Different Art Forms & Their Significance in Boosting the Creativity of Young Minds

For a country like India that carries the beauty of different art forms very gracefully on its shoulders, we can seldom keep the young generation aloof to this otherwise magnanimous form of expression. As such, if you are a parent or a teacher responsible for fuelling the creativity of young minds by offering the right dose of exposure and experimentation, you cannot turn a blind eye to the different art forms.

With this as the stepping-stone, we at Gurukul The School, being one of the top school in ghaziabad, have made it a point to seamlessly unify academics with art in order to sharpen children’s learning curve beyond books and the four walls of the classroom. Let us now understand how different art forms contribute to the growth and holistic development of children.

  • Dance – It is about opening up to the audience

Recently, we at Gurukul The School celebrated International Dance Day with our students and staff. The performers gave a hard-hitting performance that acted as a tribute to the global dance community, which is full of creativity and innovation.

For centuries, dance as an art form has played a pivotal role in grooming individuals into becoming socially present. One of the core areas where dance makes a substantial contribution is with expression of emotions. Dance familiarizes children with free-flowing movement while nudging them to be open about the idea of expressing themselves in their truest form before the world.

Moreover, as we all know, successful and happy are those who do not hold any fear of expression. This again draws us to the conclusion that dance as an art form is a must for children’s overall upliftment.

  • Painting – A window of colors

Speaking about art forms that continue to dominate young minds by sowing seeds of curiosity and developing a need to give a shot to art, we cannot but miss painting. This includes everything from pencil sketching to watercolor-backed descriptive paintings.

One of the first areas where painting contributes is with respect to hand-eye coordination. This important trait comes in handy in children’s growing-up years. Yet another plus point of keeping children invested in painting is helping them understand that the world is full of beautiful colors. The goal is to make them realize that different colors complete one’s life. Painting puts things into perspective for children.

Visual expression, spatial intelligence, and color recognition are other areas where painting contributes positively to children’s lives.

  • Music – The satisfying melodies

Our discussions about different celebrated art forms that make a difference in children’s lives will remain incomplete without the inclusion of music. When we talk about music, we talk about everything right from playing musical instruments to getting into the practice of singing songs. At Gurukul The School, we make sure that children enjoy the freedom of associating themselves with music in whatever capacity they deem suitable.

As a new-age educational institute, we believe that music has a substantial role to play in shaping children’s personalities. To a great extent, music is helpful in healing. If a child is experiencing turmoil of any form, the best way to get the child out of the dark tunnel is by taking assistance from the serenity of music.

The best part about exposure to music is children enjoy the liberty of being exposed to multi-sensory experiences, which help enhance learning abilities while encouraging cognitive development among children. Precisely, music plays a huge role in equipping children in areas like planning, working memory, inhibition, and flexibility.

Summing Up:

In this blog, we have attempted to speak about the three main pillars that constitute art in India. However, we at Gurukul The School, top schools in ghaziabad, have observed that for the longest time, these art forms were only viewed as extra-curricular activities to be performed by children in their free time. This also meant that a lot of times, children had to choose between academics and art. But the 21st-century education system has displayed sufficient role reversal.

In the current times, a lot of emphases is being laid on bringing together the best of academics and art to ensure that children grow and develop in such a manner that they can easily take over everyday challenges that life throws at them.

Moreover, in today’s times, art has taken a more rounded appearance. Be it spending time in the kitchen cooking a sumptuous meal or joining a few martial arts sessions to feel the power hidden inside of you, all of this and more today falls in the category of art.

All said and done; it is important that children, the school, faculty members, and parents understand the importance of art for the all-rounded growth of children and work collectively towards making art a permanent part of children’s lives.
